I´ve learned that it doesn’t matter how many coaching / therapy qualifications we have as a practitioner, if we aren’t prioritising their own nervous system health, we won’t be that effective of a facilitator 😳.
I remember when I once hired a really lovely therapist / coach. She had all the credentials and knew all the latest tools. But working with her felt weird.
Even though she said all the ‘right things’ her energy didn’t match it and my system could never relax in front of her.
On the other hand, I’ve worked with coaches far less qualified who I thought were absolute miracle workers. They didn’t do anything particularly unique.
But I felt seen & understood, which helped me shed layers of shame and self-doubt.
Tools and techniques are great. Especially somatic ones.
But if your nervous system is compromised and consistently dysregulated, or you’re operating from unresolved trauma without even realising it (like so many of us are, because the world is a heavy place), it will affect your client´s experience working with you.
As practitioners we absolutely have to tend to our own nervous systems. It’s a non-negotiable. Because when we’re more regulated & present, the experiences our clients have with us just get better and better.
